As a mom of three, one of my very favorite things is to receive handmade gifts from my kids. It’s so special when you know that they made it!
As my kids have gotten older, I’ve been so glad that we made keepsake gifts that included their handprints or footprints. Kids grow SO FAST, and it’s incredible (and a little heartbreaking) how quickly their hands and feet grow. Those teeny tiny baby fingers are one of my favorite things to look back on!
I am a big believer in making easy crafts, preferably ones that have minimal prep and supplies. A few years ago I started making printables to help make crafting even easier for myself and other busy parents, and I was hooked. I came up with this Easy DIY Mother’s Day Handprint Craft with that concept in mind!

Supplies Needed for Mother’s Day Handprint Flower Craft
Handprint and footprint crafts are some of my favorite things to make with babies, toddlers and preschoolers because they grow so fast. They’re also surprisingly easy, as you only need a few simple items.
For this craft, you’ll need:
- The free, printable Mother’s Day handprint craft template below
- Nontoxic paint (I personally own and love this set of Crayola washable paint)
- A soft paint brush (either a traditional one like this or a foam one like this)
- White Card Stock (this is the type I use for crafts with my own kids)
- Optional: baby wipes for a quick, easy clean up
How to Make a Mother’s Day Handprint Keepsake Craft
Mother’s Day crafts don’t get much easier than this. All you have to do is print out the free downloadable template and apply a little paint to your little one’s hand and voila! Instead, adorable keepsake that’s perfect as a Mother’s Day card too.
First download the free template and print out the page you would like to use. Using a soft paint brush, apply kid-safe paint to your child’s hand. Gently press their hand down on top of the plant stem on the paper, making sure their fingers all make contact with with the paper. Pull their hand straight back up.
I recommend wiping your child’s hands off with baby wipes to get most of the paint off, and then washing them gently with soap and water.

I’ve included 3 different options in the printable template for these DIY Mother’s Day handprint flower craft, suitable for 1 to 3 kids to add their handprints! If you have more kids, you can also add more handprints to the three stem page. Just arrange the “blooms” with the other handprints!

I recommend printing these on plain white card stock for best results, but you can also use construction paper or another type of thick paper.
